Release!

School Rumble episode 1 is out.

Torrent link is here.

Torrent only right now, sorry. Only so much a single person can do.

Detailed translation notes (okay, more like rambling) is available in the comments section of the below article.

... I tried my best to try to explain things in a way so that people not familiar with Japanese can still get the jokes, but... uh... I'm not sure how successful I was. Oh well.

Questions that I expect will be asked (tm)(R)(C)

Q: Uh, who are you? What's up with this group springing up out of nowhere? Don't we have enough fansub groups, you fucking bastard?!
A: Well, I guess this really isn't as much of a GROUP as a TRANSLATION PROJECT, right now. Or something. Hell, since it's basically just me, anyway, you can't call it a group. I just... ask people I know to do the work I don't want to do. :x You can't have a group with only one person, so HAH! And hell, I had to tag the file with SOMETHING, didn't I?

Q: There isn't enough time to read all the text on the pre-ep notes screens! Why can't you extend them?
A: Hey, with the amount of text I had, I'd have to have extended the notes to over two minutes if I wanted to give you enough time to read them all without pausing. Just... pause it and read, or something. Or, hell, I also put them up on the webpage for a REASON.

Q: No ED karaoke?
A: The short answer: You must blame a 26 year-old Russian chick and a 19 year-old American-Australian. Long(er) answer: I was going to do it, but it got too tedious and I decided to screw it. Maybe next time. Meh. I'm lazy that way.

Q: Why no IRC channel?
A: Meh, too much work. Besides, it'll probably be a desolate channel with only 5 people, and a !list every 45 minutes anyway. Not like I have any fast IRC distro or anything. (Of course, if you DO want to offer some fast distro, I guess I can set up some kind of a channel...)

Q: You suck!
A: Sorry, you must answer in the form of a question. Next customer! Oh, and if you watched the episode, you revoked your rights to bitch at me without supporting evidence, anyway. So, hah!

AND NOW THE OPEN CRY FOR HELP

Doing it all alone may be interesting and all, but you know, some help really can't hurt. Since I don't consider myself to be extremely proficient in Japanese, it'd be nice if I could get some help on that end. Basically, somebody who knows the language better than I do whom I can go to for help. And hell, if you want to help translate, that works too.

An editor might not hurt, either. I don't have one right now. Hmm.

E-mail if you think you can help.

No IRC channel or forums, either. If you want a discussion, you could use the comments section of this page, I suppose. Anonymous posting is on and all. Or, hell, go talk behind my back on asuki or something. Go ahead, I won't mind! Really!

And yeah, please leave any comments either in the comments section or through e-mail to me (dashfansubs@gmail.com).

That is all.

Thanks for doing a great job on this--this was the show I was looking forward to the most and it didn't disappoint. The translation notes were really well-done and informative--didn't know about the single-gear bicycles--even without an editor the subs all made perfect sense, the encode seemed nice and clear, and the font was easy to read; I can't think of anything to improve on. Hope you keep up the great work--as fast as you did it, you still did an awesome job.

Thank you! I was so worried that School Rumble would be ignored and live unsubbed. Glad to know I was wrong about that (almost 10,000 uploads so far!)

Bittorrent is fine (why fry you upload capacity trying to upload 10K copies?)

Anxiously awaiting the next one - just don't burn yourself out.

Absolutely great work on the subbing, and what's more, you're doing it alone! XD

Love the note's in the beginning before the anime starts. It really helps in understanding some of the punchlines in the anime.

Keep up the excellent job. (^_^)b
