School Rumble isn't licensed, the creators complained, that's all...the same applies for Gankutsuou and Genshiken and Akane Maniax. Many of the groups including A-Keep said they would continue subbing their series...

School Rumble isn't licenced, despite what the Licenced page of Animesuki says (for those of you who visit Animesuki, that is): if you read the red notice, it says tat they recieved a letter from the Japanese (yes, not American) people who make this asking Animesuki to remove the links from their site.
This means that no American company has licences SR yet = english subs are not much of a problem yet.
(however this is a first: to have a Jap company request the removal of a non-licenced (American-licenced) anime)

Somebody has got to help me find the rest of the eps on from somebody else. Before it really gets liscensed and nobody has it. Unless Dash is going to do it. I looked on AKeep, and they didn't have it. I'm not trying to wait until it comes out. I'll buy it then, but I want it now.
You're going to have to find a new tracker... As of 12/10/04, scarywater no longer allows any MFI anime to be tracked.
MFI is not the first company to tell fansub/bt listing site to remove their works. check out munto.

Hey Terri try eMule, you can still get dash fansubs through it, however... but yeah... you got to find another bt tracker man, because eMule is slow as shit!

Keep it up. Though I'm hoping you can make a release for Christmas... That tracker problem is a real kicker though. I tried WF, but... their presentation isn't as good as yours. Some of the jokes are lost on me. :D

but I have always found it necessary to encode in some
silence in your files to keep the sound from starting
during the translation notes. I am using mplayer under
Linux to view your files. I have never had this
problem with any other fansubs (I have ~4000 episodes ;^)).'
I don't mind encoding the silence, but I thought
you should know that there is *something* odd
about the sound track in your files.
I wish I knew enough about multiplexing to be
able to say exactly what is wrong.

A quick note to the one with the audio problems:
I think the problem you described appears because the SR encodes don't use audio/video interleave, meaning that they don't have some audio data, then some video data, then some audio again, etc, but instead they have all the video data first and all the audio data at the end. Maybe your video player doesn't like that.
If my theory is correct, then you shouldn't have any problems with episode one, because it's been encoded with a/v interleaving on while the other three haven't been.
A note to Dash or his encoder:
If you want to help that poor fellow, turn on audio/video interleaving in VirtualDub when encoding (Ctrl+I).
The default settings of 500ms preload and interleaving every 1 frames are pretty okay.

i've run into the same problem myself. mplayer doesn't seems to like such files. vlc and xine both have no problems playing them though. probably mplayer developers need to revise their avi demuxer.
hmm...i'm starting to really wonder if he's actually still alive now. after christmas, maybe he drank himself into a coma? (is that possible?) or maybe he got a ferrari for christmas and somewhere out there it's huggin a tree...
Ah, well, as that person said, episode 1 does not suffer from the audio sync problem.
I was able to verify that some programs play epsidodes 2,3,4 with the sound synched properly, but most unix people use mplayer.
Over a month since the last comment.. Can you at least give us word on whether you'll be continuing with this now that the company that owns SR doesn't want its works to be distributed? I can understand wanting to do good for school but come on, everyone gets at least 2 weeks off from school during the holidays; you could've found the time to take 5 minutes and give us a "I'm not doing this anymore, sorry!" instead of leaving us hanging like this.. I know you're not obligated, but seriously a little consideration for all the people waiting for you doesn't hurt anyone.

Dude, if you dropped the project or don't feel like doing it anymore, please say so so the rest of us can move on to other sources. If you're dead and are checking this post Lain-like, rest in peace.
My take on all this:
1. I always grab from multiple subbers should cases like this arise. Plus I like seeing how other subbers' translations/takes on the story differ.
2. Be glad that there are multiple subbers doing it.
3. In cases of oversubbing, see item #2, and #1 in my case.
4. In cases of undersubbing, get what you can get. If two groups are doing it, see item #2, and #1 in my case.
5. In all cases, be glad it's even OUT there.
Nobody's stopping you from getting others' subs. Granted, the Hyphen was pretty good at explaining all the language and cultural references. However, if you're THAT desparate to get your fix, there ARE others... well, IS one other... doing it. And at this juncture, be glad that that one other is even doing it at all! And I don't think I need to explain why.

I'm getting tired of these kids that think that EVERYONE has the bw they have to download an episode in 5 minutes so they can afford downloading and redownloading episodes of the same stuff. Count yourself lucky if you can, cause the rest of us don't have that luxury.

Judging from the number of inactive torrent links on the dashfansubs section of ScaryWater, he may have quit. Without even telling us, he may have dropped off the project to Yanime and AM.
That's just my speculation.

Can anyone access www.wannabefansubs.net? It seems to me the site has been down almost a week. Well, the future of SR fansubbing is pretty obscure. Why aren't other bigger fansubs groups like SS or Animekeep interested in doing SR?

There's no one really in the IRC channel and it says that it's been dropped on AniDB.net. He could have at least said that he quit instead of just randomly leaving. First, he quits School Rumble after four episodes not saying anything, then he goes to a group called Ishin and subs Negima for them and stops after five episodes. Now, that screws Ishin up with a imcomplete project. Really, what's next, start something else and then stop at six episodes? Er, well, I do thank him for episodes 1 - 4. ^_^; I wish he was more reliable though. Now, off to get Wannabe's episodes of five and up! [( Tetsu )]
